Sabre v1.1 Update

 Thank you to everyone who reported bugs and gave feedback. Update 1.1 brings the following changes:

- Changeable two tones (See bottom of post)

- Fixed an issue where on some viewers avatar would stand up in driving seat when turning the engine off

- Fixed an issue with the left hand drive version where you couldnt control the vehicle if you clicked the drivers seat to get in

- Dashboard window buttons now function (Yes it's meant to control both at the same time :) )

As this is a small update I am not sending out a re-delivery to everyone. To get the update you can get a re-delivery manually here .

Using custom two tones

The Two Tones on the Sabre were recorded from a real Sabre so are authentic and lovingly made, however if for some reason you would like to change them simply place a sound in the root of the vehicle called "twotones"

Equipment Upgrades

 Hello everyone - It's been a while, apologies. Real life is much busier for Val and I than it used to be so progress has slowed significantly. With 2 new vehicle releases on the horizon, I thought I would make a post about some of the upgrades we have made to the existing equipment. This will be available to everyone with the Gear HUD 2.8 update (which will come with the next vehicle release).

All of the updated equipment (except for the ladders) will replace the current version in the new update. This means if your vehicle has the old model that you click, it will rez the new version for you to use.

Scene Tape

The old scene tape worked, but it was a bit fiddly having to go into mouselook. It relied on casting rays, which isnt always reliable; especially with phantom objects. It also only had 1 texture (fire and rescue) but the Sombre world has expanded since then.

The new scene tape has 11 textures:

FIRE & RESCUE / DO NOT CROSS

FEUERWEHR - SPERRZONE

Generic Red and White

POLICE

POLIZEI

Garda (Irish Police)

Politi (Norwegian Police)

Generic Blue and White

INNER CORDON / DO NOT CROSS

CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS

Generic Black and Yellow Hazard

With the tape in-hand you press C or Page Down to change the texture, then click the tape to start placing. It will place down the tape immediately with a little pole to hold it up. The tape will follow you as you walk and you can then click the tape again or press C / Page Down to place another pole.

You, or someone in the same group can then click the pole or the tape to remove it.

The new tape is much easier to use, and hopefully the new textures will allow for more variety.

Disc Saw and Chainsaw

The models for these were made in early 2020. They have served the fire & rescue services of Second Life faithfully for the last 6 years, but they were in dire need of an upgrade. Val has made gorgeous new models for both, and their sounds and functionality have also been updated.

 The saws can still cut vent and climb-able holes along with the sound-only mode, however it is now controlled using buttons on the Gear HUD. You can turn the saw on and off, switch through various poses, and there are now particles that can appear when you use the saws. You can change through several preset colours / sparks.

Cones

A similar age to the saws, they were also starting to show their age. The new model is similar, but updated. It has a specular map so the reflective bit will be nice any shiny. The new cones have several colours, and you can change the "mode"; this means you can have the cones rez as physical or solid (non-physical) with with or without click-to-delete.

Halligan Bar

A new model, more poses, and it can now be controlled using buttons on the Gear HUD.

Ladders

The ladders have been completely re-made, both models, sounds and scripts.

 Previously you would have to carry the ladder to where you wanted it, then click again to rez it. Now then ladder will rez straight from the gantry (truck mount). From there you can click "Move" on the controls and the ladder will move around in-front of you (like moving the training dummy). When you're happy with where it is you can click the ladder to place it down. From there, there are controls to raise, lower, and extend / retract the ladder. These actions also have sounds.

 You can click on the ladder to show / hide the menu.

PPV Fan

The model for the fan is the same, though I have added a Normal Map. The main change here is that it can now blow out HD2FS smoke without needing an API channel - Thank you very much to Lares Carter for sharing the necessary information to make this possible.

Sombre Swift - User Guide

How do I get moving?

 Sit in the drivers seat either by clicking on the seat, or right click the van and choose "Drive".

Either click the actual key, or the key icon on the HUD. Once will turn on the battery and a second click will turn on the engine.

Use Page Up and Page Down, or E and C (Depending on SL Viewer) to change which "Gear" or driving mode you're in.

W is accelerate, S is brake. A and D turn. This may be the arrow keys on some viewers.

Here is a diagram of clickable controls (Can be clicked in mouselook too)

Cruise Control

Simply release the accelerator once you've reached the speed you want to drive at, and the vehicle will continue at that speed. If you want to slow down a bit you can tap the brakes.

Damage / Fluids

The vehicle has the familliar Sombre maintenance features. You will need to keep your Swift topped up with GFS Diesel Fuel, and Sombre DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) and engine oil. You will also need to do routine repairs if your engine gets damaged.

If you don't want to do this, access the menu, choose vehicle and use "Quick Repair"

You can refuel using any NTBI GFS compatible pump / jerry can. You can get one here.

To check the level of the DEF, Oil, and Damage you can click in the engine compartment - See the image below on where to click.

To check the fuel, or DEF you can look on the dashboard.

If you don't like using mouselook or alt-cam, you can check the DEF level by clicking on the DEF cap (Left side of the vehicle below the fuel cap), and you can check the fuel by opening the menu.

To refill the fluids, rez the Sombre Maintenance Cart nearby. You will need to be wearing the Sombre Gear HUD (You can request one using the vehicle menu). Click on the fluid you want to refill and you will pick a bottle up. Walk up to your Swift and open the bonnet. Then click the bottle you are holding and it will position itself. Click on the bottle to start pouring.

To repair engine damage you follow a similar process but choose the "Repair" option. The cart will position itself and then you can sit on it to start repairs.

High Roof

To install the high roof, select EDIT MODE from the vehicle menu. Then rez the high roof addon and wait for it to position itself. You can then select the roof first, then your Swift and link them. It will remove the old doors for you. Select EDIT MODE again and you're done!

Addons

Select EDIT MODE from the vehicle menu. Rez your addon and wait for it to position itself (Assuming its using the Sombre Addon Installer). You can then select the addon first, then hold down shift and select the Swift, and choose "Link" or press Ctl + L. Then select EDIT MODE from the menu again.

Swift Modding

 The Swift has been designed with modding and addons in mind, so there are quite a few systems available to modders.

Physics Shapes

If you want an object in your addon to use either a Convex Hull or Prim physics shape, you will need to set the description of said object to either "CONVEX" or "PRIM". If you don't, EDIT MODE will set it to none.

Addon Touch System

No need to add a script into everything that you want to be touch-able. You can do it all with 1 script inside of your mod and use the built in addon-touch system. This was originally done by Beckhan.ra of GEMC, and it's a genius system so we've added it to the Swift.

To use - Simply add ADDON_# into the description of your object. You can add further values after the # if you want to use them in the script. When this object is clicked it will send the #addon_touch link message.

Example: Object desc: ADDON_#locker1#0

In script:

if( _func == "#addon_touch" ) {
            list parts = llParseString2List(_msg, ["#"], []);

            integer link_num    = _num;
            key     toucher     = llList2Key(parts, 0);
            integer link_face   = llList2Integer(parts, 1);
            string  link_name   = llGetLinkName(link_num);

           // Accessing the custom values after ADDON_#
           string door_name = llList2String(parts, 2);
           integer door_open = llList2Integer(parts, 3);

Addon Menu

If you want to have a menu for your addon, you can make use of the "Back Addon.." function from the Customise Menu. To do this listen for the "#addon_menu" link message. See the link messages section for more on this.

Simple Doors

If you have a door where the mesh is offset to include a hinge (As in, you only need to set the rotation to make it open / close) then all you need to do is change the name and description for it to become a door (Once linked to the Swift).

Name: Must include "SimpleDoor" in the link name

Description: A list separated by #'s - [(Vector) Axis, (Integer) Amount to rotate, (Integer) Sound set to use, (Integer) State]

 Example: <1,0,0>#-56#1#0 - This will rotate -56 degrees on the x axis when clicked, and use sound set 1. This door is currently closed.

Sound sets available:

0 - Small door

1 - Large door

2 - Basic

3 - Locker style door

Simple Seats

There are a few key-words you can use to easily make something a seat.

Passenger - Will make the object a seat

PassengerTex - Will be a seat, and get re-textured with the regular van seats

PassengerAny - Will be a seat and ignore group / owner lock and allow anyone to sit (Example usage is in the police cell, so a prisoner can sit but the van is still locked to group)

The description will need some information. Each item is separated by a #. An example is:

<0.05,-0.8,-0.3>#<0.5,-0.5,0.5,0.5>#DoorL#none#sit#00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

<Seat Offset>#<Seat Rotation>#Door to open when seated#Get-in animation#Sit animation#Key of currently sitting avatar (Set to 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000)

If you don't want a door to open, or an animation to play, simply write none.

Changing Siren Sounds

The siren sounds are held within the lightbar itself. They must be named numerically, starting from 0. They will play in order, and then loop around (If using horn to change).

Example: Your first siren is called "0", the next is called "1".

Right click the lightbar, make sure "Edit Linked" is ticked, delete the existing sounds, then drag in your siren sounds.

GTFO - Get The Freight Out

The Swift is GTFO enabled out of the box. You don't need to add any scripts. You can add CARGO!0/1/2/3/etc to make objects appear and disapear when you load or unload cargo.

Example: First object has CARGO!1 in description, the next object has CARGO!2 in description.
